Hey guys! Feeling nervous?! SYF is only 8 days away, we are the 1ST band on that day.

I hope these coming practices can prove that we are capable of playing together as a Band with those Happy Memories! The Seniors are really going to step down real soon. I hope the current Sec3 can take good care of the band when we are studying hard for our N's and O's. Throughout this 5 years I can see the Band improving by bits and bits. From a 20-30 people band to now a 56 strength Band. The attendance for this year is also improve by heap although there are still SOME people who dont attend band regularly. Okay , here are all the details and each specific part of the 2 pieces for the SYF.
Singapore Flyer:

Bar1-11: Suspended Cymbals play correctly to the rhythm.

Bar 10 : Brasses please play forte piano.

Bar 12 : Crash cymbals please be on time.

Bar 16 : Horns please play your triplets.

Bar 17 : Dynamics

Bar 24 : Trombone 1 is sharp

Bar 25 : Tuning

Bar 26 : All, strong and weak beats must be clear. Trombone no hiccups!

Bar 29 : Woodwinds please play Elegantly.

Bar 30 : Trumpets and saxophones please play with correct intonation

Bar 38 : Tempo and dynamics, WW melody please play with intonation.

Bar 69 : Suspended cymbals please come in on time and Euphonium section please be louder!

Everyone please be louder too and play smoothly. Tenor sax and trombone 2 pls be balanced and be together. You guys can work together during sectionals.

Bar 77 : WW intonation! Clarinet 2/3 , Alto Sax and tenor sax play triplets evenly and tongued.

Bar 86 : Glockenspiel please play on time and think in quavers.

Bar 141 :WW please tongue the starting of your running notes.

Bar 148: Brasses please play forte piano and crescendo while WW work on ur running notes.

And the last NOTE everybody must be in TUNE!

For Homage to Normandy 2nd movement:

Bar 20: WWs do not rush and tongue the 1st and the last note.

Bar 39: Balance and be in tune and play with a "DO " tonguing

Bar 51: Zhiwei please play the correct rhythm! Count!

Bar 64: Brasses no sudden hiccups before breathing!

Bar 76: Tenor Sax. and Bari Sax. please play with shorter quaver.

Bar 83: Everybody play with crescendo and end only at Bar 87. Pace yourself.

Bar 91-92: Decrescendo!

Bar 93 and 94: Crescendo!

Bar 88 and 90: All brasses and Lower WWs play with a better articulation.

Hey peeps,

The performance for tmr SYF showcase(21/3)Mon in SCHOOL details is all here.Only MAIN band is involved for this performance. We will be performing during the upper and lower sec assembly so there is two timing for you guys to follow. Please read carefully and dont get mixed up! Everybody must report for this first reporting time which is at 810am for lower sec assembly aft the performance, lower sec band member which is all the sec2s will go for your normal recess which is at 940am-1010am. While for the upper sec band members(sec3-5) will go back to your class. Next, all lower sec band members will report in the band room at 1040am for the upper sec assembly performance. Then all upper sec will go for ur 15 min recess at 1040am and report back at 1055am in the band room. We are performing our 2 SYF pieces.Pls make sure you bring back ur score if you had bring home. I do not expect anyone to be LATE! Pls ask ur teachers to release you ON TIME! Attire for tmr's performance will be your school uniform. For those who had PE for tmr,bring ur uniform to change! Thks!

I'm here to tell you about the SYF Judging Criteria.

-50% for Technique
it includes your Articulation, Dynamics, Intonation, Rhythm and Tone.
-50% is for Musicianship
it includes your Balance, Blend, Expression, Interpretation, Phrasing and style.

Awards
- Gold (80% and above)
-Silver (70-79%)
-Bronze (60-69%)
-Certification of Participation (59% and below)

So rmb those who raised their hand for GOLD? If you want a gold award , it's not easier.
Don't be too complacent during Band practice and when Mr Ong asked you to go for your sectional is to practice for yourself not for everybody.
Now , we got 2 new choice piece and I already have put up one of them on FB which is Whale Warriors while for the other one , I can't find it from youtube. D:
As for Singapore Flyer rmb what Mr Ong had said , Clarinets got to work on your running parts and play it for 60times. I will take you less than a min.
F. Horn, you got to work with the Tubas for Part C.
As for other sections, work hard on everything ! (:

Hello , PeiCai Concert Band had their Passing Out Parade yesterday (9/12/10) .
Finally the Sec 4 and 5s are graduating already. I knew some of you will be sad especially YUHUA! HAHA! We will often visit the band if we have time too ! :D Rmb to help your juniors with all the best you can. Thanks for all the memories you guys have given us. The video, presents and jokes.

Since all the exams had ended and band have already resume do remember to come for every single Band practices starting from today.

To all Band Members,
Tmr pls report at 0700AM at the softball corner and report in the correct attire.
Top:Red Band Tee.
Bottom: Sch Shorts/Skirt.
Footwear's: According to sch rule(White shoes)OR RED Covered Shoes (NO SLIPPERS!)

Those late comers will be deal with.
And pls rmb what Mr Ong said NO playing of wrong notes tmr this is the minimum requirement from him. As for Majulah Singapura Mr Ong wants us to play with Dynamics.
Clarinetist pls take note of the holding of ur instrument and the note Eb.
Rmb if u are resting , pls rmb to sit the whole chair if not u will tend to slout.
I counted the no. of chairs needed already, do not take too much or too little chairs.
There should be 37 chairs for the whole band and stands pls share among your section.
Those big instrument like Euphonium, Trombone and Tuba need at least 2 stands.So dont be selfish.
And also rmb when taking the pledge listen to the command for ur hand to go up and come down.
Last but not least, rmb the incident that happen just now? Just wish that person will his/her punish by the GOD. :D

Anyways just here to remind u guys about some stuffs.
Juniors wear P-E attire while seniors wear black BAND tee and seniors PLS rmb to bring your current FULL Band uniform along for the camp as well.
Tmr report at sch at 0830am don't be late as i will be taking the attendance.And i don't want you guys to miss the rules and regulation about the camp.

To all Seniors,
I hope that what Mark,Eilyn,Fan jun and Mr Ong said today u still remember.
Before we go for the second round of rehearsal , Eilyn told you all to adjust your own stands so that you can look at Mr Ong but only a few did follow to what Eilyn says.
Especially Euphoniums and Flute section every time you fail to keep on time and play on the correct spots.Trumpet section today only have one person hence Sophia tried her best to play everything she knows.That all for my nagging now time to say about collect money from you guys!

Band Camp is coming YAY!Hence pls bring your $20 on the camp day itself.
Those ppl who nvr pay $7 for your tie pls bring on the camp day also if not u wont get your tie.Is up to you.No tie get it yourself AND must be the same design as the BAND.Some people also haven give the money for the NEW Band yet we have be asking the money for 2-3 weeks already yet the person still haven come and pay.

I am quite disappointed for the juniors who never come to school to pay the $7 i only receive a few juniors money. EG:LingNar,Wendi,Ayn,ZhiWei and Caroline.These 5 juniors only.So pathetic! I wish next time you guys include the main Band will pay the money on the day itself when I want to collect! Good job flute,tuba,f.horn,percussion,sax.and trumpet section who pay all in time together!

Some new rules to tell all of the band members said by the COMMITTEE on yesterday(27/5).

1)We will cut short the time of packing of your instrument from 7 min to 3 min.
-For example ask one of the members in your section to wash all the mouthpiece together instead of one at a time.

2) New punishment.
- Instead of doing push-ups, we doing something like star jumps but with your hands on your ear.If you don't know how is it like we will demonstrate for you.

3)No playing during sectional such behavior is unacceptable!
-If you are caught playing during sectionals, you will be punish!

4)No leaving of instrument with nobody taking care of it.
-If you need to drink water OR go toilet urgently, ask someone who is in the BAND to take care of your instrument.
-If we see any instrument left unattended, punishment will be given.
-Your instrument is more expensive than your BALL or whatever.Bear in mind treat your instrument like your Family OR your Girlfriend/Boyfriend.

I hope that what Mr Ong has said yesterday is still clear in your mind,especially the Sec1s!
There is only ONE Mr Ong now so he has to take care everybody not only the Main Band but the Sec1s too.
We seniors hope Mr Ong to spend more time with you all rather than us.Think about the main band and Mr Ong.
I wish there will be major improvement from now onwards.No troubles from now on.
